PROFESSOR DATO’ DR. JAFRI MALIN GIVEN RECOGNITION AS REPRESENTATIVE OF SOUTH ASIA CHAPTER BY GBC
CHENGDU, CHINA, 7 September 2024 - Professor of neuroscience and Chairman of the Brain Behaviour Research Cluster at the School of Medical Sciences (PPSP), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and Fellow as well as Council member of the Academy Science Malaysia, Professor Dato’ Dr. Jafri Malin Dato’ Haji Abdullah has been officially appointed as the Representative for the Global Brain Consortium (GBC) Chapter for the South Asia. The appointment was made by Professor Pedro Valdes Sosa, Co-Chair of the GBC, during the GBC Annual Meeting 2024. This prestigious role recognizes Professor Dato’ Dr. Jafri Malin Dato’ Haji Abdullah’s significant contributions to the field and his leadership in advancing global brain mind and neuroscience research within the South Asian region.
This event, which took place from 6 to 8 September, was held in conjunction with the General Assembly of the Global Brain Consortium and also celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Electroencephalogram (EEG). The annual conference gathered leading experts in computational neuroscience, neuroscience methodology and experimental neurosciences.
Attendees engaged in in-depth discussions on various aspects of brain mind and neuroscience research. The event featured keynote lectures by outstanding scientists and state-of-the-art symposia on different topics.
As part of its tradition, the conference emphasized promoting Open Science, facilitating access to international databases, increasing computing power and advancing methodologies in low and middle-income countries.
